Cablevision has filed suit against Viacom Inc. over bundling, its practice of forcing cable operators to carry networks that they don't want as a condition of carrying ones that they do. The cable operator immediately found support from rivals Time Warner Cable and DirecTV. The backlash against bundling comes as cable-TV and satellite providers are increasingly being saddled with enormous costs to carry live sports programming. Currently Cablevision carries 14 mostly low-rated Viacom channels in exchange for the right to carry Nickelodeon, MTV, Logo, Nicktoons, and Comedy Central.
