Cablers Charging More For Internet Alone Than For Bundle With Tv

Cable companies are fighting back against subscribers who want to cut the cord -- drop their TV service and watch shows via video websites on the Internet. Some cable ISPs are now charging more for Internet service alone than they are for Internet service combined with television, according to the Wall Street Journal. Sanford C. Bernstein analyst Craig Moffett told the newspaper that cable companies don't want to allow customers to cherry pick their best product at a low price and take the rest of your services from somebody else. In effect, they are pricing the broadband at a price that discourages you from taking broadband only. The Journal noted that in many areas, Comcast, Time Warner Cable and Verizon now offer their basic TV service for just $5 per month more than what they charge for Internet service alone.
