Bush Treats Japanese Leader To Graceland Trip
PRESIDENT GEORGE W BUSH and Japan's Prime Minister JUNICHIRO KOIZUMI made history in Tennessee yesterday (30JUN06) when they became the first sitting world leaders to visit ELVIS PRESLEY's Graceland home in Memphis. The trip was planned as a treat for Prime Minister Koizumi, a long time Elvis fan, after two days of political talks aimed at cementing relations between Japan and the US. The two leaders were joined by Bush's wife LAURA and Presley's ex-wife PRISCILLA and daughter LISA-MARIE at the King's former home, which is now a museum. During their top secret trip, the Japanese leader, who has reportedly been a member of Elvis' fan club for over 30 years, was treated to his hero's favourite meal of grilled peanut butter and banana sandwiches. The Presleys have romantic ties to Japan - Lisa-Marie wed her fourth husband MICHAEL LOCKWOOD in Osaka, Japan in February (06).
