Bruce Willis - Bruce Willis: 'Oscars Are All For Novelty'
Action star Bruce Willis refuses to let his career-long lack of recognition from Academy Awards bosses get him down, insisting his roles are meaningful to him.
The Die Hard actor's film choices have never been Academy material, but he refuses to let that stop him from making the movies he's comfortable in.
He tells Gq magazine, "I don't think about it (Oscar snub) too much. It just always has seemed whimsical to me, to think about it. You don't get an Oscar for comedy, and you don't get it for shooting people. You get it for novelty, of being fascinating to watch in some character role. But the Die Hard stuff and Dirty Harry (roles) are all fraught with the same thing that every story is fraught with."
Instead, Willis has other accolades to celebrate - during a special ceremony in Paris on Monday (11Feb13), he was made a Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters, France's highest cultural honour, in recognition of his stellar movie career.
