Bruce Springsteen Springs Surprise On Sxsw Revellers
After performing 'The Highway is My Home', the Texan singer-songwriter told the audience, "We need one more guitar player", with Springsteen arriving on-stage to a roar of delight from the crowd. Donning a black and white checked shirt, the E Street Band man helped Alejandro rip through a version of The Midnight Train, taking on the feedback-heavy guitar solo with aplomb. Later in the set, Escovedo began telling a story about his own guest slot at a Springsteen gig in Houston a couple of years ago, saying it "changed his life". The pair went on to play 'Always a Friend' and the pilgrim song 'Going Down the Road Feeling Bad' - again with Springsteen on lead-guitar. The fans certainly got their money's worth on the night, with Escovedo yelling "One more!" as The Boss began to leave the stage - the duo subsequently crashed into a version of the Rolling Stones' 'Beast of Burden'.
Springsteen wasn't the only surprise attraction at Sxsw on Wednesday - with Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant introducing Jimmy Cliff onto the stage during a private party at the Hotel St Cecilia.| Comment on this article |
