Bruce Springsteen - Bruce Springsteen Just About Manages To Topple Adele Off Us Number One
Bruce Springsteen has managed to secure his tenth number one debut after his latest album, 'Wrecking Ball', hit the top spot in the US this week. Bruce Springsteen managed to knock Adele's '21' off.
The album managed to sell 196,000 copies according to Nielsen SoundScan, only 1300 more copies than Adele's '21', which has soared past the 8 million mark already (the first album to have been able to do so since Usher's 'Confessions' in 2004.)
Springsteen celebrated the news by performing a string of concerts this week. Many albums, such as Springsteen's, benefited this week due to a basement 25% sale hosted by Google. Artists that gained sales from it this week included Coldplay, Lady Antebellum and Lil Wayne. Lady Antebellum especially rose in sales of 88,000 copies this week, whilst Coldplay rose by 81,000 copies. The top ten also featured Drake, Andrew Bird, Luke Bryan and Whitney Houston's 'Greatest Hits'.
However estimations show that Springsteen won't be on top for long as UK boyband One Direction have already stormed to the top of the US Itunes chart with their debut album 'Up All Night'. Early projections suggest that both Springsteen and Adele will have to settle for second and third positions this week after One Direction performed to a record-breaking audience on 'The Today Show' earlier this week.
