Bruce Springsteen - Bruce Springsteen In Heartfelt Message Following Death Of Saxophonist


Bruce Springsteen today spoke of the loss of the long-time Saxophonist in his E-Street Band, Clarence Clemons, who died following complications from a stroke on Saturday. Clemons was key member of the band and played a major role in establishing the signature sound of Bruce Springsteen, on hits such as Born to Run, Jungleland and Rosalita. The Los Angeles Times today published a heartfelt message from Springsteen that he made public on his website, which reads: "Clarence lived a wonderful life. He carried within him a love of people that made them love him. He created a wondrous and extended family." Springsteen went on to discuss Clemens' importance to the band, commenting: "He was my great friend, my partner and with Clarence at my side, my band and I were able to tell a story far deeper than those simply contained in our music. His life, his memory, and his love will live on in that story and in our band."
Clemons was known as 'The Big Man', standing at 6" 4", and was a former college football player. He had experienced a number of health problems in recent years, reported People Magazine, including spinal fusion surgery and two knee replacements, but it had been thought that he was getting better. The saxophonist recently played on the latest Lady Gaga album Born This Way, and was a member of her band for her performance on the American Idol final. He also stars in her new video for the single Hair. He had the stroke earlier this week, and after an initial improvement, things took a turn for the worse as the weekend approached.
