Brown Pushes For Assault Case Delay
CHRIS BROWN's attorneys are determined to delay the singer's upcoming assault case - they have taken their request to the California Supreme Court after a judge refused to grant the order last week (beg08Jun09).
Brown, 20, has pleaded not guilty to one count of assault and one count of making criminal threats related to an alleged domestic violence incident involving his ex-girlfriend Rihanna in February (09).
The Kiss Kiss hitmaker is due to attend a preliminary hearing in the case on Monday (22Jun09), but his lawyer, Mark Geragos, asked for the court session to be postponed to allow them more time to prepare. A Los Angeles Superior Court judge denied the request.
But Brown's legal team have refused to give up and have applied to the state's high court in a bid to get the hearing pushed back, according to legal papers filed on Tuesday (16Jun09).
The upcoming hearing is expected to feature testimony from Rihanna, who has been subpoenaed to face her ex in court.
