Brosnan Studied Blair For Polanski Film
Polanski assured the actor that Blair wasn't the basis for the Adam Lang character, but Brosnan wasn't convinced.
He says, "I hopped on a train and met Polanski and the first question across the table was, 'Am I playing Tony Blair?' He said, 'No, you're not playing Tony Blair.' However, all roads, indications, emblems and stories seemed to point to him, so I looked at Tony Blair, his performance of Tony Blair being Prime Minister and his persona."
But Brosnan struggled with his studies because he knew very little about the former Prime Minister: "I met him once and he was very charming, and I met his wife.
"But I've lived in America for many years now, so I have not really been paying deep attention to the politics of Britain. I can't help but experience the politics of America, especially in the last year. When Mr. Blair came into office he appeared to be somebody who was doing great things and then seemed to fall by the wayside. That's just an observance from my shallow perspective of his life."
