Brooke Shields - Brooke Shields Breaks Hand

Brooke Shields has broken her hand.

The 45-year-old actress is now sporting a cast as a result of a mishap during rehearsals for her forthcoming role in Los Angeles stage production 'Leap of Faith', but expects to recover in time for opening night.

Her representative said: "Brooke broke her hand during rehearsal for the musical 'Leap of Faith'. "The cast will be off before previews on Sept. 11. It was a minor break and did not affect the production schedule."

The 'Lipstick Jungle' actress - who has two daughters, Rowan Frances, seven, and four-year-old Grier Hammond with husband Chris Henchy - stars in 'Leap of Faith' with actor Raul Esparaza.

The musical follows Raul's character Jonas Nighengale, a con artist and part-time reverend who moves to Kansas when his ministry breaks down.

The local sheriff is determined to stop Jonas' money-making schemes against the townspeople, but his ultimate challenge arises when he meets pretty waitress Marva - played by Brooke - and her son.

The show officially opens at the Ahmanson Theatre on October 3.
