Brooke Mueller felt "humiliated" by Charlie Sheen's decision to file for divorce.
The 'Two And A Half Men' actor and his estranged wife - who have 19-month-old twin sons, Max and Bob, together - had reportedly agreed to wait another year before filing papers and Brooke has been left stunned at Charlie's decision to officially end the two-and-half year marriage now.
Her lawyer Sorrell Trope said: "Charlie humiliated Brooke. She didn't want to make trouble for Charlie."
Sorrell says Brooke was even more hurt because she had shown her support for Charlie after he was hospitalised after trashing a New York hotel room following a drug and alcohol fuelled party with a porn star escort.
However, Charlie's manager Mark Burg insists Brooke did know what was happening and thinks everybody involved should be concentrating on the welfare of Bob and Max.
He said: "Charlie tried to reach out to Brooke and left her a message before filing for divorce. It's a shame that this ambulance chaser is trying to drum up more business because this divorce was finalised and agreed upon 6 months ago.
"Shouldn't everyone involved be more concerned about the two young children?"
In his papers, Charlie Cited "irreconcilable differences" and was seeking joint legal and physical custody of the boys, while she responded by filing for primary physical custody and joint legal custody.
The couple have been estranged since they had a huge fight last Christmas Day (25.12.09) - which led him to plead guilty to misdemeanour assault and resulted in him being given a 30-day suspended prison sentence.
In May, it was revealed they had signed a property agreement which divided all their assets.
