Brits Snubbed At Grammys

by | 13 February 2007

Brit Award nominee JAMES BLUNT turned the other cheek as the US music industry decided to overlook the poshest man in pop at the Grammys.

British stars were snubbed in the American music awards in favour of home grown artists, with the DIXIE CHICKS taking most of the awards on Sunday night.

However, speaking to the Sun, Blunt explained that he was expecting this kind of cold-shoulder from the Americans. Before the show he said: "It's not really a competition, I'm not expecting anything."

As with the Oscars, the Grammys are very much an awards ceremony for the marketers, with the awards going to those most likely to be 'pushed' by the music industry in the next 12 months.

Despite the combined talents of ARCTIC MONKEYS, JAMES BLUNT, CORINNE BAILEY RAE, NATASHA BEDINGFIELD and the PET SHOP BOYS, the British contingent failed to scoop any awards at the bash.

But anyone hoping to grab a gong at the Brit Awards tomorrow night in London will do well not to take any tips from MARY J BLIGE's acceptance speech.

After thanking God an incalculable number of times, the soul singer reeled off a huge list of names to thank keeping the long and boring acceptance speech traditional alive for another year.
