Proving that Britain is a nation of dog-lovers, Marley and Me has shot to number one at the UK box office.
After one weekend on release the film, starring Jennifer Aniston, Owen Wilson and a cute but naughty Labrador puppy, made £4.4 million.
The movie, which sees Aniston and Wilson's characters come to appreciate their lives together and learn how to contextualise their problems thanks to the cheeky destruction wrought by the eponymous Marley, is one of three films starring dogs in the UK top ten.
It success pushed superhero epic Watchmen into second place.
Clint Eastwood-starring Gran Torino remained at third place, with multiple Oscar-winner Slumdog Millionaire and new release The Young Victoria completinig the top five.
