Britney Spears - Britney Spears' New Single Intended For Katy Perry?
BRITNEY SPEARS new single 'Hold It Against Me' was originally penned for KATY PERRY, according to Rolling Stone Magazine.
BRITNEY SPEARS, who yesterday revealed that her seventh studio album would be titled 'Femme Fatale', has been praised for the experimental direction of her new single, but producer DR LUKE says the track could have ended up on KATY PERRY's latest record.'Hold It Against Me' is the first single from 'Femme Fatale' and was co-written by DR LUKE, MARTIN MCKEE and BONNY MCKEE. In an interview with Rolling Stone, the producer confirms that the song was planned for Perry but says it didn't suit her style, adding, "We might have played it for her, but it definitely wasn't a Katy Perry record. We had it for a while. I wanted to make sure it didn't sound like everything else I've done". He added, "You can play that chorus acoustically on a guitar and it's still going to sound great". Although Spears confirmed the album release date as being 15th March 2011, DR LUKE insists that the record is not yet finished and that a tracklisting is still to be decided, he said, "We're in the middle of it right now. I can't even say at this stage what songs for sure are making it and what songs aren't. We're working with a lot of producers and overseeing it with her A&R and record label and management and trying to make something cohesive".
'Hold It Against Me' debuted at number-one on the US Billboard Hot 100, and the album is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated releases of the year. Mark Hudson, a music buyer for Trans World Entertainment predicts 'Femme Fatale' could sell 500,000 copies in its first week, noting, "Circus ended up doing well, but we were a little cautious about it - a little tense comeback issues were going to be relevant. But this time around, her stock is higher".
