British Sea Power Play Protest Gig On Boat
The band took to the waves earlier this month (Mar11) and performed songs aboard a ship as it floated near the Houses of Parliament to show their opposition to the British government's controversial spending cuts.
Guitarist Martin Noble tells Q magazine, "So much of what this government is proposing is based on short-term gain, long-term pain politics."
In 1977, the Sex Pistols caused outrage by playing their anti-monarchy anthem God Save The Queen on board a boat on the Thames as the U.K. celebrated Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee.
