A - British Festival Hop Farm Cancelled

Britain's Hop Farm Festival has been cancelled due to poor ticket sales.

The two-day July (13) event was set to feature My Bloody Valentine and Rodriguez as headliners, while reggae legend Jimmy Cliff, The Horrors and The Cribs were also billed to perform.

A statement issued by organiser Vince Power reads: "We have worked very hard to try to make it work but it has proved too much a of mountain to climb... We would also thank the fans that have supported us over the past five years. It is with great sadness that the decision was made."

The Hop Farm festival had been scaled down for its sixth year to prevent spiralling costs after the promoters made a loss in 2012.

The event was a huge success in 2011 when it boasted Prince as a headliner and sold out, while the Eagles and Morrissey have also previously hit the stage for the bash.
