British Broadcaster Gordon Honeycombe Has Died, Aged 79.
The TV newsman passed away at his home in Australia on Friday (09Oct15) following a long illness.
A statement on the TV-am website reads, "Gordon will be remembered for his authority, intelligence and wonderful sense of humour and great kindness."
Twice voted the most popular newscaster in Britain, Honeycombe joined the ITN network in 1965 and was named the chief newsreader at breakfast show TV-am in the 1980s, where he stayed until 1989.
In addition to his news career, Honeycombe was also an actor at the Royal Shakespeare Company from 1962 to 1964 and appeared in films and stage shows including The Medusa Touch, Castaway and Aladdin. He was also the author of several books, including Neither the Sea Nor the Sand, Dragon Under the Hill and Selfridges.
There are currently five separate teams working on 'Game of Thrones' projects at HBO.
