Britain's Got Talent Hopeful Becomes Youtube Sensation

A church volunteer from West Lothian is the favourite to win Britain's Got Talent after her audition became a YouTube phenomenon.

Susan Boyle, 47, wowed Simon Cowell and the judging panel on the ITV1 show with a sensational rendition of I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables.

And now the church volunteer, who has dreamed of being a professional singer since her teens, has been seen performing by more than five million people on the video sharing website.

Actress Demi Moore was one of the millions who viewed a video of Susan's audition, with the Ghost star admitted on microblogging site Twitter that she was moved to tears by Ms Boyle's performance.

The unmarried singing hopeful, who told viewers she had "never been kissed", told the BBC that a career in singing was a longstanding ambition.

"I entered the competition because I wanted to have a chance at my singing," she explained.

"I found it very nerve-wracking to begin with but once I settled down and began to sing, I thought that the audience accepted me a bit more. Then I sort of relaxed and began to enjoy it."

She is now the bookies' favourite to follow in the footsteps of Britain's Got Talent winners Paul Potts and George Sampson, after earning a standing ovation from the judges.

Piers Morgan said her performance was the "biggest surprise" he had experienced on the talent show and Amanda Holden described listening to Ms Boyle as a "complete privilege".

Regarding SUSAN BOYLE's NEW APPEARANCE- She's living the dream she dreamed-so let her fully enjoy it looking great! SEEING HER TRANSFORM IS LIKE WATCHING THE WORDS IN HER SONG 'I DREAM A DREAM' COME TO LIFE! IT'S FANTASTIC! What an awesome voice, what a story and about time to begin her life again with a mini update as she has done...coming out of putting her entire life on hold to care for his sick mom until she died! Probably loosing part of her self image...thus the frumpy look.I hope Simon Cowell and other's get another 'wake up call', but this time regarding Susan Boyle's simple hair and clothes 'update' and support her for living her dream that she's waited all her life to live. I say hurray for her! In interviews Susan stated she specifically chose the song, "I Dream a Dream" because it epitomized her life story. Her story is - she 'gave up her life' for a while to take care of her sick mother, and I think she temporarily lost her own self image during that...as the song says, "I had a dream my life would be so different from the hell I'm living. So different from what it seems, My life has killed the dream - I dreamed." She said she saw herself on tv and realized how she let herself go (because of the trauma in her life and loosing her dream). Let's all support her for grabbing onto life again, fully living the dream she dreamed and coming back to her next appearance as 'the real Susan Boyle' who had been lost for so many years taking care of others and not herself! No one will loose interest in her just because she is actually living in her life again - that is captured in the song she sang at that life changing moment in time. IT'S LIKE WATCHING THE SONG SHE SANG COME TO LIFE!Simon, don't force her to stay frumpy! We love her for herself. Let the dream come alive in her!Sharon from Michigan USA

I was in tears when Susan Boyle began to sing. What a beautiful voice and she was so cute. Real and down to earth. Good for her.Wow! It's amazing how talented someone can be and have no one know anything about it, until a show like this comes along. That's why I love these shows. It gives people a chance to share their gift with the world.

Many many years ago, I was sleeping with the TV on and I was awakened by this beautiful voice singing "White Cliffs of Dover. The voice was of the incomparable VERA LYNN. I have never heard a purer female voice until I heard SUSAN BOYLE on ABC NEWS. What a find ! ! ! I cannot wait to purchase her first recording....If it is a CD, I hope she does her version of White Cliffs of Dover as one of the songs on that album. It would be great to see her do a guest shot on American Idol as well. RSLIP
