Brinkley Calls For A Change In The Judicial System
Former supermodel CHRISTIE BRINKLEY has taken a sly swipe at her ex-husband PETER COOK after calling for U.S. judicial officials to take a stronger stand against "narcissists" in court.
The beauty divorced businessman Cook in October 2008 after she discovered he had been cheating on her, and the couple spent the following year locked in a bitter custody fight over children Jack and Sailor - with both parties demanding the other be sent to jail for breaking the terms of their split settlement.
They finally made peace in October 2009, but Brinkley has risked reigniting the war of words after launching a thinly veiled attack on her ex during an appearance on new U.S. daytime show The Talk on Monday (18Oct10).
When asked by co-host Julie Chen about her divorce battle, Brinkley insisted the drawn-out court process could have been more promptly resolved had authorities taken action against "narcissists" "exploiting" the system.
She said, "I feel that the courts really do need to catch up with what's really happening in our country right now and it's taking way too long. The courts are sometimes exploited by narcissists... I feel like that's an area (that needs discussion)."
Brinkley admitted she would consider campaigning for a change in divorce laws in the future, but only once her kids are grown up.
She added, "Right now I'm very busy just enjoying my children... (but) someday."
