Brett Ratner - Brett Ratner Takes Control Of The Oscars

Brett Ratner, the America filmmaker best known for directing the hit comedy 'Rush Hour', has landed the job of producing next year's Academy Awards. Ratner will work alongside veteran producer Don Mischer in an attempt to recapture the past magic of the ceremony, reports Mtv News.
The 2010 Oscars, hosted by popular Hollywood stars Anne Hathaway and James Franco, was heavily derided for its reliance on tame jokes and slapstick humour. The hiring of Ratner indicates Academy bosses are keen to move on from the debacle, although there has been no announcement regarding presenters. The filmmaker has worked extensively in both film and television. As well as 'Rush Hour', he also directed 'X-Men: The Last Stand' and the lauded pilot for crime-drama series Prison Break. He described the role as "a dream come true", adding, "This wasn't even in my dreams, it's so far out. This is something I never could have imagined". His co-producer Mischer worked on this year's Oscars, and has also produced events such as the Super Bowl half-time show and the Emmy Awards.
The 84th annual Academy Awards will be presented on 26th February 2012. Early front-runners for possible nominations include Steven Spielberg's 'War Horse' and David Fincher's 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo'.
