Bret Easton Ellis - Bret Easton Ellis Snubbed For Fifty Shades Of Grey Role

Bret Easton Ellis has been ruled out of writing the screenplay for 'Fifty Shades of Grey'.

The 'American Psycho' author put himself forward to write the script and suggested Scarlett Johansson or Kristen Stewart should play the part of college graduate Anastasia Steele in the movie based on E.L. James' erotic thriller but is disappointed that he is not being considered.

He tweeted: ''It's a very major disappointment to announce that I've somehow been taken off the list of possible screenwriters for Fifty Shades of Grey...''

He then messaged the author, writing: ''I hope you find someone as passionate as I was about ''Fifty Shades of Grey.'' I will miss it. Moving on. Laters, baby... (sic)''

When Bret put himself forward to write the screenplay, he suggested 'A Dangerous Method's David Cronenberg could direct the movie which details Ana's S&M relationship with manipulative billionaire Christian Grey.

In a series of tweets which have since been deleted, he wrote: ''I'm putting myself out there to write the movie adaptation of Fifty Shades Of Grey...

''This is not a joke. Christian Grey and Ana: potentially great cinematic characters.''
