Brand 'Sets Sights On Hollywood'by Contributor | 28 March 2007
Russell Brand has reportedly set his sights on becoming a Hollywood star after being introduced to a top director.
The wacky TV presenter is currently in talks about teaming up with US funnymen Eddie Murphy and Chris Rock in a forthcoming film, the Daily Mirror reports.
Brand, 31, is apparently being considered for a part in the movie, in which Murphy and Rock will star as two janitors who plan a robbery after being introduced to the director of the new flick by Courtney Love.
The reported talks with X-Men maker Bret Ratner come as wild-haired Brand has undergone a transformation to play spiv Flash Harry in the forthcoming remake of the classic 1950s comedy, St Trinian's.
Shooting has just begun on the new film about the exploits of unruly pupils at a girl's school, with Rupert Everett and Colin Firth also among those who will star in the movie, which is being filmed at Ealing Studios.
However, it appears that west London doesn't have quite the same draw as Hollywood for Brand.
An 'insider' told the Mirror that Brand was so desperate to make it in the big apple that he had hired a personal trainer to beef up his body.
"Russell wants to be in tip-top condition so he can give it his best shot," the source said.
Nonetheless, the Mirror claims that a Hollywood future for Brand still remains in doubt given a reported fine he received for taking cannabis in 1995.
