Bradley Cooper - Bradley Cooper Thankful For Boston's Disaster-trained Hospital Staff

Bradley Cooper is convinced the number of fatalities in last week's (15Apr13) Boston bombings would have been much higher if not for the expert staff at the city's top hospitals.

Three people were killed and more than 175 were injured when two explosions ripped through crowds of spectators at the finishing line of the Boston Marathon in Massachusetts on 15 April (13).

Cooper is currently filming director David O. Russell's new film in the state, and took time on Thursday (18Apr13) to meet one blast victim who lost both of his legs in the atrocity.

After his visit to the Boston Medical Center, Cooper heaped praise on the quality treatment facilities in the city, which boasts four hospitals equipped to deal with major disasters.

Speaking on DJ Ryan Seacrest's U.S. radio show, he explains, "The thing about Boston is there are four Homeland Security hospitals, so the amount of treatment people got instantaneously after the bombs... I think there would have been more casualties had it been in another city. The reaction time was so fast and the ability was so quick, it was just incredible."

On Monday (22Apr13), the surviving suspect, 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, was charged with using a weapon of mass destruction. His older brother Tamerlan, also a suspect, was killed in a shootout with cops.
