Boy George - Boy George Upsets Hindus With New Video
BOY GEORGE has upset devout Hindus with the depiction of their deities and gods in his new music video.
Religious leaders have branded footage of a dancing Lord Krishna and flashes of Lord Ganesh in the promo for Amazing Grace "disrespectful" and they're calling on the former Culture Club star to publicly explain the meaning of the video, which also features a bloodied Boy George and homosexual imagery.
Eminent Hindu statesman Rajan Zed tells WENN he was upset by the video, calling the use of Hindu idols "unnecessary and inappropriate".
Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, says, "Boy George should come out with a public explanation of what he wanted to convey using the images of Lord Krishna and Lord Ganesh, who appeared irrelevant in the music video.
"Such an absurd depiction of Hindu deities with no scriptural backing is disturbing to the believers. Lord Krishna and Lord Ganesha were not meant to be thrown around loosely in reimagined versions for dramatic effects in music videos. Boy George even made Lord Krishna dance to his tunes.
"Casual flirting with Hindu symbols results in the pillaging of serious spiritual doctrines and revered symbols and this hurts the devotees.
"Hinduism is the oldest and third largest religion in the world; it should not be taken lightly. No faith should be ridiculed."
