Bourne A'plenty

Final weekend box-office results for The Bourne Ultimatum came in somewhat below studio estimates but were still well above those for any other film ever released during August. Universal said that the movie earned $69.3 million. In second place was Fox's The Simpsons Movie with $25.1 million. Disney's Underdog debuted in third place with $11.6 million. Two other new films, however, barely made it into the top ten. Paramount's Hot Rod opened in ninth place with $5.3 million, while Lionsgate's Bratz wound up with just $4.2 million. Meanwhile said Monday that Matt Damon, the star of Bourne, has become Hollywood's best investment, taking in $29 for every dollar he's paid.
