Bono Meets With Obama To Discuss Africa

Irish rocker BONO was granted an audience with U.S. President BARACK OBAMA on Friday (30Apr10) to discuss America's policies on foreign aid.
The U2 frontman is a long time campaigner over issues blighting Africa, spending years raising awareness of Third-World debt relief and calling for aid packages to boost the continent's impoverished nations.
Bono has previously met with world leaders, including former U.S. President George W. Bush, in a bid to secure aid for Africa, and now the singer has taken his case to Obama in a meeting at the White House.
The star joined the American leader in the Oval Office, along with members of the president's national security staff, to discuss ways to make sure U.S. foreign aid is effective while trying to help African countries embrace modern technologies.
A statement from Bono's ONE development organisation reveals the pair "discussed the power of new technology to empower activists and entrepreneurs across Africa, part of a new rising generation that's boosting growth and governance and defying stereotypes."
