Bono Hails Queen Elizabeth Ii At Jubilee Launch

Rock stars Bono and Sir Paul McCartney, actress Joan Collins, and funnyman David Walliams mingled with Queen Elizabeth II on Wednesday night (23May12) at a special event to kickstart the monarch's Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

Former Dynasty star Collins, who was also celebrating her 79th birthday, was among a sea of famous faces attending the party at the Royal Academy of Arts in London.

Other guests included former Bond girl Dame Diana Rigg, actors Sir Derek Jacobi, Michael Sheen and Tom Courtenay, and artists Tracey Emin and David Hockney.

U2 star Bono gave a speech at the event, hailing the monarch for "the extraordinary magic that you made on your trip to Ireland last year".

And Walliams was left delighted when the Queen recognised him from a previous meeting.

Taking to his Twitter.com page after the event, he wrote, "I met the Queen again tonight at an event (at the) Royal Academy in London. She remembered me which made me very happy...!"
