Bono - Bono Dismisses 'Wrong' Protesters

U2 frontman Bono has shrugged off the scenes of violence during the band's set at Britain's Glastonbury festival on Friday (24Jun11), insisting he is "glad" the protesters had their say, but branded their campaign "wrong".
Campaigners from anti-capitalist group Art Uncut staged a demonstration during the group's headlining show amid accusations the rockers have avoided hefty tax bills in their native Ireland by moving their business operations to the Netherlands.
The protesters inflated a large balloon featuring the message, "U Pay Your Tax 2", during the gig, but it was hastily removed by security guards, who wrestled a number of activists to the ground and deflated the balloon.
The move prompted angry clashes between protesters and security staff, and Glastonbury organisers have since spoken out to insist there was "no instruction of heavy-handedness". Bono has now commented on the ugly scenes and the singer is adamant the group's accusations of tax evasion are wrong.
He tells Britain's Daily Mail, "'I'm all for protests. I've been protesting all of my life. I'm glad they got the chance to have their say. But, as it happens, what they're protesting about is wrong."
