Bonnie Tyler Shrugs Off Eurovision Risks – If She Doesn’t Win, It Won’t Damager Her Rep

Where there was once pressure, there’s now nonchalance. Where there was once integrity, there lays show business. And where there was once a hotly contested singing contest, there’s the Eurovision Song Contest.

Bonnie TylerTyler's got the cigars out (not literally)

So when Bonnie Tyler – an expert of both times – gears up for the biggest talent show on earth, her relaxed attitude is understandable. She told BANG Showbiz: “People love Eurovision…If I don’t win it’s not going to damage my reputation- people know me much too well already from my live shows. They have seen me give so many powerful live performances. I am a live singer. And I believe in the song.” And she’s right. People watch Eurovision to see if Finland do something mental, or if recent political travestys play on the voting (they always do). Tyler just hopes she out-performs Engelbert Humperdinck, the UK’s Eurovision contestant last year, as she wasn’t 100% sure on his song choice. “I think he’s got a strong voice, but the song wasn’t strong enough for him. It wasn’t the right song. His hits in the past have been powerful, and I don’t think it had anything for him to get into.”

Either way, the 61-year-old reckons she’s confident about her entry song, ‘Believe in Me.’ “Mine is a good song, and I've got six people on stage with me. I won't be having any dancers, it will be straightforward performance, musicians and backing singers,” she said. Good luck Bonnie!
