The actress' portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II's late mother has garnered her international acclaim, including a Best Supporting Actress nomination at the upcoming Golden Globes.
And Bonham Carter, whose ancestors include former British prime minister Sir Herbert Asquith, admits she called on her social circle to discover secret details about the royal's private life.
She says, "People think I'm more aristocratic than I am. We're upper middle-class but we're not aristos, although I do know people who knew the Queen Mother, so that helped me get some inside information."
