Bollywood Beats Britain At Box Office
28 September 2006KABHI ALVIDA NAA KEHNA has already grossed more than two million since its UK release five weeks ago (AUG06) - beating British films such as the award-winning Vera Drake.
Sixty nine Bollywood films have already been released this year (06), with 14 productions now financed in the UK, and are regularly shown at the country's top three multiplex chains - Odeon, Vue Cinema and Cineworld.
A spokesperson for Nielsen EDI, which measures box office performances, says, "It's a recent development. Bollywood is not just a specialist cinema anymore."
