"They keep telling me one step at a time, one day at a time - but I am planning on going around the world and letting these people know what soul singing really was about," he said, continuing "Because I have the energy and the vocals to put it on. They deserve to know it, they don't have to read it in a history book."
At the nadir of his struggle, Womack says that he suffered from pneumonia twice as well as collapsed lungs. "Everything died at one time. I've never been so sick in my life and they say it started to happen on the Gorillaz tour," he said. Though admitting that it was his daughter who urged him to collaborate with Gorillaz on their 2010 Lp 'Plastic Beach' - he had no idea who they were - he also claimed that it was the group's protagonist Albarn who "welcomed him back into the music community". His first studio LP since 1994, 'The Bravest Man In The Universe', was recorded with the British songwriter and it seems like Womack has no plans to abate from his career just yet.
