Bobby Rydell Undergoes Double Transplant

Veteran singer Bobby Rydell is recovering after undergoing a double organ transplant in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The 1960s teen idol had liver and kidney surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital last week (ends13Jul12) after his doctor advised him he was facing certain death without replacement organs.
The 70 year old, real name Robert Ridarelli, reveals he even received a call from another '60s icon to wish him well for the procedure.
He says, "Frankie Avalon called me the other day - he went to church, prayed."
The Wild One singer is expected to be discharged from hospital on Wednesday (18Jul12).
