Bobby Brown - Bobby Brown: I Didn't Get High Before Meeting Whitney
Bobby Brown has denied accusations that he introduced Whitney Houston to the drugs that eventually led to her death, instead claiming that he didn't take anything before meeting the singer. Brown is often held responsible for leading Whitney down the path of drug and alcohol abuse, though the New Edition singer insists that is not the case.
During an interview with Matt Lauer on the Today Show, Brown said the accusations "make me feel terrible", adding, "But you know, I know differently. I think if anyone ever knew us, if anybody ever spent time around us . . . they would know how we felt about each other. They would know how happy we were together". The pair were married between 1992 and 2007 but Brown claims it's inaccurate to suggest he introduced Houston to drugs, saying, "I didn't get high before I met Whitney.I wasn't the one that got Whitney on drugs at all. It's just unexplainable . . . I'm not the reason she's gone". Despite splitting some five years ago, Bobby says he saw Houston about a week before she was found dead at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. According to Brown, Whitney, "had this glow about her that was just, you know, incredible. She looked really well".
The coroner confirmed that there was cocaine in Houston's system after her death, though Brown claims he had no idea Houston was still struggling with drugs, saying, "I was hurt".
