Bob Marley - Bob Marley's Legacy Lives On At Cannes Film Festival

Bob Marley, the legendary reggae singer best known for his hits 'Jamming' and 'No Woman, No Cry', is being remembered at the Cannes Film Festival today. A documentary about Bob Marley is set to preview at the event, marking the 30th anniversary of the singer's death, reports Bbc News.
'Marley', directed by the Oscar-winning filmmaker Kevin Mcdonald will feature footage from private family archives, as well as unseen music and photographs. MCDonald, whose previous work includes 'The Last King of Scotland', 'Touching the Void' and 'One Day In September', says that she has travelled across the world to research and film the movie, saying, "Part of the idea is trying to look at the influence he's had all around the world. We filmed in Tunisia because Bob Marley was culturally influential in the recent revolution. People were chanting 'Get up, Stand up' when they were demonstrating in the streets". Chris Blackwell, the former head of Island Records and the man responsible for signing Bob Marley, told the Daily Telegraph that the singer's music is eternal, saying, "His music will be around forever. Mozart's music, Mozart still influencing people, that was 400 years ago".
At 36-years of age, Bob Marley died in the Cedars of Lebanon Hospital in Miami after suffering from cancer. The spread of a melanoma from his lungs to his brain had worsened his condition and eventually resulted in his death. The singer's finals words to his son Ziggy Marley were, "Money can't buy life".
