Bob Dylan Plays Hop Farm

Bob Dylan performed his only UK show of the year on Saturday (03.07.10).

The veteran singer headlined the Hop Farm festival in Kent, South East England, delighting thousands of fans - across several generations - with a 90 minute set crammed with material from his extensive back catalogue.

Unusually for the musician, he addressed the crowd before performing 'Like A Rolling Stone', thanking them for their support and introducing his band.

Though Dylan kept his audience interaction to a minimum, earlier performer Ray Davies thrived on the sing-along aspect to his set shortly before the headliner.

Despite admitting he had been asked to cut his stage time short, the former Kinks frontman insisted "I'll play for as long as I want" before embarking on a string of hits by his former band, encouraging the crowd to sing along and add lines to the material, finishing with a rousing version of 'Lola'.

Earlier in the day, Mumford and Sons played to "more people we have ever seen" in the blazing sunshine, while Pete Doherty treated fans to a greatest hits set comprising material mainly from his bands The Libertines and Babyshambles.

His stripped-down acoustic set was accompanied by two ballet dancers, giving their own interpretations to his bleak lyrics.

The previous evening, Van Morrison had made a rare public appearance, with his headline set dubbed the highlight of the weekend for many festival goers, while Blondie brought their recent UK tour to a close with a hit-laden set, interspersed with material from their forthcoming album 'Panic Of Girls' and a surprising cover of Taio Cruz's 'Break Your Heart'.
