Blur Echo 'The Beatles' With London Rooftop Show

Brit-pop saviours Blur took to the rooftop of their recording studio for a free, stream-able (via Twitter) gig for their fans last night (June 2nd) in what was their first gig in almost three year's. Whilst up there, the band unveiling two brand new songs online.

The 90's hit-makers took centre stage on top of frontman Damon Albarn's recording studio in West London for the gig, playing the brand new tracks 'Under The Westway' and 'The Puritan' for the first time - both of which were penned for their triumphant Olympic show next month in Hyde Park. Albarn had previously stated that the recordings were written "for Hyde Park" and also said that he is "really excited about getting out there and playing them for people." Both new tracks will become available on a limited edition double-A 7-inch vinyl single that will be released by Parlophone on 6th August.

The band, who consist of Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree, will also be heading on a mini warm up tour prior to their post-Olympics gig in Hyde Park, visiting Margate Winter Gardens, Wolverhampton Civic Hall and Plymouth Pavilions early this August. However, fans shouldn't hope too hard for more from the band after their Olympic shows, as the members have all stated that the show could very well be their last for a very long time.
