The Universal hitmakers will take to the stage on 12 August (12) for a huge musical event, also featuring New Order and the Specials, at London's Hyde Park - the same venue where the band performed two triumphant comeback gigs in 2009.
Blur will also release a new single entitled Under the Westway around the same time as the big show - but frontman Damon Albarn has quashed speculation an album of fresh material will follow, because he wants to leave on a high note.
He tells Britain's The Guardian, "I'll give it (the concert) 100 per cent, like I did last time. And that's it. And I hope that's the truth: that that's how we end it.
"We recorded (Under the Westway) live. One take. It's the first Blur song where it's been one take, because previously I never finished the lyrics before we recorded. This time, I'd done that, so we were actually able to perform it. Which is quite nice, because I don't really see any more recordings after this. So it's nice to have finally done one song where we did it properly."
Blur formed in 1989 and were, alongside Oasis, the giants of the famed Brit-pop music era in the '90s. Their last album was 2003's Think Tank.
