Blur At Maida Vale; 'Caramel' Performed For First Time Ever

Blur performed live at BBC's legendary Maida Vale studios yesterday (July 31, 2012) and the band even performed their track 'Caramel' for the first time. The song was on their album '13' which was released 1999. The band have never played the track live but yesterday's two shows were full of surprises for the intimate gathering that were lucky enough to catch the exclusive gigs.

The band are gearing up for their London 2012 Olympics closing ceremony in Hyde Park and are shortly setting off on the road to play a number of small shows, in order to road test the material that they'll be playing. Yesterday, they played a session for 6Music, which featured the performance of 'Caramel.' they also played the track 'Young & Lovely,' which was a 1993 B-side and has only been played live once before by the band. They then played another set for BBC Radio 2, which was aired live. This was a 12-song set which included 'Popscene,' 'For Tomorrow,' 'The Universal,' newer song 'Under The Westway' and their first live performance of 'Mr Briggs' since 1999.

On August 12, 2012, Blur will be joined by The Specials and New Order for the closing ceremony show. On Monday (July 30, 2012), they released a box-set encompassing all of their career. The collection includes their seven studio albums, as well as more than five hours of previously unreleased material.
