Blink 182 - Blink 182 Cancel Tour As Travis Barker Undergoes Emergency Surgery
Blink 182's Travis Barker has had to undergo emergency surgery, forcing the band to cancel a number of North American tour dates. According to a report from Nme, the band has been forced to pull a small number of US dates, so that Barker can undergo an emergency tonsillectomy. The band have released a statement on their website, revealing that Barker's recovery period is likely to "extend beyond the scheduled tour dates."
The statement began by saying "The members of Blink-182 have announced today the cancelation of all their May 2012 dates due to a medical emergency" and ended by saying "the band apologizes for any inconvenience as a result of these cancelations and thanks their fans for their on-going support". The shows originally planned for today (May 10, 2012) and tomorrow, have been rescheduled for September 13 and 14, 2012, respectively. The remainder of the US dates, have been cancelled "and will not be rescheduled."
It is not currently thought that Travis' medical treatment and recovery will have any bearing on the band's plans to tour the UK and Ireland in June. The tour, according to Nme has already been rescheduled once before and was originally scheduled to take place in July 2011. The dates were pushed back so that the band could finish their 2011 album 'Neighborhoods.' They revealed earlier this year that they have already begun working on its follow-up, whilst frontman Mark Hoppus has also been touring with his side project, ANGELS AND AIRWAVES.
