Blake Lively thinks perfume is the ideal Christmas present.

The 'Gossip Girl' star's top pick for a festive gift is ''something that lasts'' like fragrance and the stunning blonde believes a special scent can help you create memories that can be treasured forever.

Blake - who is the face of Gucci Premiere - explained in a new promotional video: ''A fragrance is something my father would always give to my mother - we all within our family would buy each other different fragrances. It tells a story - it's each different time period in your life. It's a nice identifier.''

The 25-year-old actress is likely to be presenting her handsome new husband Ryan Reynolds with fragrance this year, as she thinks there is nothing more ''comforting'' then recognising a loved one's smell.

She confessed: ''[It's also] a selfish gift. It's so comforting when you're near someone you love and you recognise their smell - it's just like, 'Ahh, that's you'. You get so much pleasure out of the gift as well.''

Blake admitted her mother was also going to be getting a bottle of Gucci premiere and she expects the women in her family to be squabbling around the fireplace because they all share the same taste in perfume.

She laughed: ''I'm going to have to fight with her. The problem is my mom and my sisters and I, we all like the same fragrance, so we're all going to be wearing Gucci Première. If you were blindfolded in a room, you're not going to be able to tell us apart.''
