Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath win double at Golden Gods
Black Sabbath won two awards - Best UK Band and Best Album - at last night's (17.06.13) Metal Hammer Golden Gods.
Black Sabbath won two awards at last night's (17.06.13) Metal Hammer Golden Gods.
The heavy metal pioneers received the Best UK Band trophy at the magazine's annual ceremony, as well as Best Album for their new effort '13', which on Sunday (16.06.13) became their first number one album in 43 years.
The record also sees the band's original singer Ozzy Osbourne appear alongside Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler for the first time in 35 years.
Ozzy said the revitalised band are already thinking of following '13' up with more new music.
He explained: ''We're still revelling in coming back with this. There probably will be another album, but I don't want to promise anything to anyone.
''It took us long enough to do this, and we can't wait another 43 years to have another number one. If it comes to pass we don't make another record, then I can rest easily knowing we finished things properly with '13'.''
The awards, held at London's The IndigO2 venue, also saw another classic metal band, Motörhead, receive the Golden God award - the highest honour of the night - given to artists who have significantly contributed to, shaped and inspired the world of rock and metal.
Grunge metallers Alice in Chains were named Icons of the Year while Thin Lizzy's Scott Gorham collected the Riff Lord award for his guitar skills.
To celebrate their win, Motorhead gave a live set to close the event, after performances from bands including Airbourne and Coal Chamber.
