Jack Black abandoned his dream of becoming a successful Hollywood screenwriter after his debut movie Tenacious D: IN THE PICK OF DESTINY flopped.
The film funnyman put pen to paper to write a big screen story about Tenacious D, his musical side project with pal Kyle Gass.
Despite the band's big cult following, the 2006 movie debuted at number 11 in the box office and struggled to make back the $20 million (£13.3 million) spent on it.
The failure knocked Black's confidence so much, he has promised to give up screenwriting for good.
He tells Maxim magazine, "It was a body blow, mainly because we had so much fun making it. I got a lot out of the writing. I was psyched to write more screenplays, but that kind of killed my writing career."
