Alicia Keys - Black Ball Postponed Due To Storm30 October 2012
Singer Alicia Keys' 2012 Black Ball has been postponed.
The charity benefit was scheduled for Thursday (01Nov12) at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York, but organisers have scrapped the event due to the devastation caused by former Hurricane Sandy, which lashed America's east coast on Monday (29Oct12).
A spokesman for Keep a Child Alive, the charity organisation behind the Black Ball, says, "Due to Hurricane Sandy, Keep a Child Alive has decided to postpone the ninth Annual Black Ball... A new date for the Black Ball with be announced in the coming weeks. In the meantime, our thoughts and prayers are with all our fellow New Yorkers affected by this devastating storm."
Beyonce and Carole King were billed to perform at the event, and Whoopi Goldberg was scheduled to host.
