Bjork - Bjork's Throat Surgery A Success
Icelandic pop star Bjork has undergone successful surgery to remove a polyp from her vocal cords.
The It's Oh So Quiet hitmaker was forced to scrap a string of gigs in South America in April (12) after doctors discovered the nodule, and she had to axe plans to tour Europe and Asia as she rested her voice.
She finally agreed to have an operation using advanced medical technology, and now Bjork reveals she is fighting fit and ready to resume her live shows next year (13).
In a post on her website on Wednesday (21Nov12), she writes, "few years ago doctors found a vocal polyp on me chords (sic)... i decided to go the natural way and for 4 years did (vocal) stretches and tackled it with different foods and what not. then they discovered better technology and i got tempted into hi tech lazer (sic) stuff and i have to say, in my case anyway: surgery rocks!
"i stayed quiet for 3 weeks and then started singing and definitely feel like my chords are as good as pre nodule! it's been very satisfying to sing all them (sic) clear notes again. im sorry i had to cancel stuff earlier in the year, didnt want to talk about this until i knew for sure if it would work (sic). so looking forward to singing for you in 2013."
