Billy Joel - Billy Joel Will Address Substance Abuse In Memoirs
Billy Joel will open up about his highly-publicised battle with booze in an upcoming autobiography, just weeks after Sir Elton John went public with his concerns for his pal's heavy drinking problems in a candid magazine interview.
Elton risked the wrath of his on/off tour mate earlier this year (11) when he revealed his frustrations over Joel's love of alcohol in a Rolling Stone article, in which he suggested concerts had been cancelled because of the Piano Man's issues.
Joel brushed off the controversy as "Elton just being Elton" but the outburst appears to have prompted the American rocker to come clean about his drinking and his turbulent life in his memoirs.
In The Book of Joel, due for release on 14 June (11), the rock legend will take fans on an "emotional ride" as he addresses his failed marriages, his struggle with depression and his substance abuse problems.
A statement from publishers at HarperCollins reads, "There is a lot in this book that he has never revealed before."
