Billy Corgan: 'I'd Like X Factor Judging Role'
Smashing Pumpkins star Billy Corgan has urged Simon Cowell to consider him for the vacant judging post on America's TV talent show The X Factor.
The rocker insists he'd jump at the chance to mentor wannabes if a role on the programme was offered to him.
He tells Spinner.com, "I don't have a problem with (American) Idol or X Factor; I have a problem with when those things (talent shows) are not given the proper contextual hue. If there's an American Idol there should be a proper alternative counterbalance."
Corgan's news comes a week after rumours suggesting Britney Spears was in negotiations for a judging role on the show spread.
Neither Cowell, The X Factor producers or Spears' representatives have confirmed the reports.
