Bill Wyman unveils new art exhibition in London

Bill Wyman opened his new exhibition 'Bill Wyman: Reworked' in London on Tuesday evening (26.02.13).

The former Rolling Stones bassist unveiled the re-imaginations of his photographs of the legendary band by various artists - including cartoonist Gerald Scarfe - at the Rook and Raven Gallery in Westminster, where he was joined by his wife of 20 years Suzanne Accosta and daughters Jessica and Matilda.

Speaking about his choices, Bill said: ''I gave Gerald Scarfe a few choices and and he chose the Keith Richard boxer pose, which is a mad one.

''He's a lovely natural man and we seem to bump into each other and we always have a chat. It's nice to have that close relationship which I don't have with the other artists.''

Gerald's portfolio includes the animations for Pink Floyd's film 'The Wall' and Disney animation 'Hercules'.

Bill entrusted him to recreate some of his pictures as artwork after being impressed by Gerald's sketches of Rolling Stones singer Sir Mick Jagger from the 1980s.

Bill explained: ''He gave me two cartoons he did of Mick in the '80s which are hilarious and he signed them for me.

''They have this great huge mouth with a little body behind it with skinny legs.''

One piece which turned heads on the opening night was a portrait of Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts, showing the musician resting his chin on his hand with a smile on his face which stencil artist Penny had added a bright blue butterfly to.

Stars in attendance included model Twiggy, actor John Hurt and former Simply Red singer Mick Hucknall.

'Bill Wyman: Reworked' is on now until March 31.
