Bill Murray Unlikely For 'Ghostbusters 3', Says Co-star
"If we can get the script to Ghostbusters 3 right, then it would definitely have Moranis as a major component. None of us would want to do the movie without having him [Rick Moranis] as a participant," said Aykroyd to Empire. However, it would appear that Murray has no interest in the role, with rumors that he sent his co-star back a copy of the script shredded up alongside the note "No-one wants to pay money to see fat, old men chasing ghosts." Aykroyd strongly denied that had been the case, but did admit it was unlikely Murray would be involved.
"We communicate frequently and his position on the involvement in Ghostbusters 3 has been made clear and I respect that," commented Aykrod, "But Bill has too much positive estimation of my writing skills to shred the work," which would seem to suggest that should 'Ghostbusters 3' happened, Murray's role would be played by someone else - sacrilege?
