The story follows Milkha Singh - India's biggest sports hero, famous for winning Gold in the 1958 Commonwealth Games as a track and field sprinter - who lost his family during the violent war of the Indian Partition. It’s a tragic biopic, directed by the BAFTA nominated Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra ('Rang De Basanti', 'Delhi-6') and written by Prasoon Joshi, and it is set to be released on screen on July 12th 2013. This collaboration us a huge moment for Indian cinema, as more money and efforts are being invested in expanding Bollywood’s market towards a larger Western audience.

Entrepreneur Deepak Kuntawala says, "DVK is at the forefront of championing, nurturing and bringing to global recognition a variety of unique entertainment projects. We started our innings by bringing the critically-acclaimed show 'An Evening with Pacino' to the London stage, and now we continue to reach great heights in the entertainment arena by being the international partner for the incredible film Bhaag Milkha Bhaag."

Singh himself has watched the movie, and found it so close to the truth, he was moved to tears. "I became very emotional after watching certain scenes as they reminded me of my days of struggle. The film brought alive memories of the Partition when I did not have a job or enough food. I burst into tears to see my initial days unfold on the big screen," the 82-year-old sportsman said over phone.
